Plans for Her Friday

night included renting
a movie she'd heard
about, this flick, "House
of Wax.” Not the original
but a new one that's
supposed to be pretty
good. Maybe not as
suspenseful or as believable
as the other one, but damn,
she’d pay all kinds of money
to see Paris Hilton swallow
something sharp. Hell, she'd
even freeze frame her ass,
reverse and hit half speed
and see it twice.

Are You Experienced?

She asks, "How
many new experiences
do you think
you can handle in
one night?"
And I say,
"That depends upon
what kind of experiences
you had in mind."
"Good ones."
She says.
"The kind that
makes your skin
tingle even when
you are asleep."
"That sounds like
a nightmare to me."
"Not when you're
with me. In fact,
when you're with
me, you may never
want to sleep again."
So, I say, "Is this
like the Jimi Hendrix
Experience? If it is,
I don't do flaming
guitars."
"You won't need
a musical instrument
at all."
So, I sit and think
of the silence that
has come between
us and how it might
be filled.

Guardian Angel

His guardian angel must
have been packing some
serious heat, must have had
a small arsenal and enough
ammo to take out a small
army secured beneath her
flowing black robes, used
a flaming sword instead of
head lamps to show the way
on dark, moonless nights
patrolling the deserts of his
life, a soon-to-be a ravaged
wasteland of stripped malls
gutted like wild animals
hunted for their tusks, their
fur, their vital life forces
that were taken away and
discarded and left to rot
beside lost pitted highways
that lead South into unknown
lands where he kneeled to
pray before graven images
for release, an end to torments
in this life never imagining
how nearby the agent of his
his deliverance was, what she
would look like and what
the nature of this wished-for
end would be.
