About Go Grocery Store

A neighborhood grocery for more than 100 years.  Go Grocery offers a large assortment of fresh healthy options at a great value.  Go Grocery has a loyalty program which gives personalized offers and allows customers to earn points whenever they buy anything every time they shop.  Go Grocery is committed to making an impact in Western Hills by providing our town with great fresh food at low prices, supporting the Wyoming people serving our country, fighting local hunger, helping the poor, and having garage sales annually to donate to our community efforts.

As managers, my wife and I have a great new announcement to make!  Last week, we brought in a mobile robot we have named Alexander Ibarra, one of the new grocery robots being sold throughout the United States.  We won’t be left behind because of our rural population!  Why let big cities get all the benefits?  Let me tell you about the robot.  I named him Alexander, which is the middle name of the owner, but it originally came from his uncle, Alexander Dupois.  The owner was going to name one of his kids “Alexander”, but he had only girls!  So, by calling the robot Alexander, we are honoring the owner and his family.  The owner believes the robot will provide the store with safety features and relief of the problems Alex finds, a great improvement over what it now has.  I will call Alexander “Alex” though, for simplicity.  Now, his last name—Ibarra.  Ibarra is the maiden name of the owner’s wife.  She is delighted to have her name in her store and supports our new little robot friend Alex.  Alex is almost 6 feet tall, has flashing lights, and is good looking!  This is a very special robot to us, and we are excited to share what Alex will be doing in our store.

Alex has many different abilities, but the reason we have introduced him is for the SAFETY of our customers.  He will roll around the store looking for spills and items in the aisles that may have fallen, but we don’t know about them.  He has a navigation system, and you can hear his little guide beeps that directs him away from shelves and our favorite shoppers!  He has great high-resolution cameras and sensors, incredible software, and 2 big pretend eyes, so you can imagine what he is able to perceive!

Another feature Alex has is to determine if an item on the shelves is running low.  How many times have you gotten to a shelf and realized that the shelf is empty?  Alex will fix this by transmitting information to us if there are just a few items on the shelves or if he finds out-of-stock items.  Also, we want to make sure that all our goods are not past the safety and removal date on them.  This does not happen as much in the canned goods, but think about our deli sandwiches, potato salad, turkey in packages, etc.  He will let us know that the expiration date has arrived, and we can donate them to a local charity.  The Food Kitchen loves slightly out-of-date items and will be glad for the help of Alex.

Another feature– let’s say that in town, a can of corn is less expensive than ours.  We want to remain competitive with stores in the area, so will take this information into consideration and modify our costs if necessary.  What a great benefit for you!

This roving robot Alex will send the information immediately to us, the managers at the store, so the problems can be immediately rectified.  We are excited to introduce you to Alex!  He has a charging station near the check-out stations, so you may not always see him when you are here, but he is there working for you!

ROBOTS (ALEX)

David Lang–5 stars

I love Alex!  He is a great addition to your store!

Go Grocery Store

Thanks David—We are also very happy with his services.  We appreciate your comments and are delighted you shop here.

Dude W–5 stars

I am so impressed with Alex.  It is like having a friend following me around the store.  He does not answer when I talk to him (obviously!) but I know he is there to protect me in case something falls on the ground or the area is slippery. Thank you for caring!

Go Grocery Store

Thanks, Dude, for your great thoughts.  We got Alex to protect you and your needs, so thanks for appreciating and enjoying him!

Sara Peck–4 stars

Good selection of fruits and vegetables.  Great deli department.  Friendly and helpful butcher as well.  Lots of self check-out registers.  I heard a nice female voice broadcast that there was a spill on aisle 11.  I went to see it because I know Alex is always alerting us of problems.  He was not in aisle 11, and there was no spill.  The voice repeated the spill message at least 5 times over the next 5 minutes or so, and no one went to that aisle, and Alex was not there.  I checked, and he was being charged at his station, is there a problem?  Thanks.

Go Store Grocery

Thanks for your thoughts, Sara. It is Alex which triggers a response inside our speaker’s system.  If there was a spill, it could have been taken care of quickly.  Even if there is a piece of paper on the floor, Alex will call it a “spill”, and alert us.  He must have thought it fixed and gone to get charged after reporting the problem.  We will check on the repeating sequence to avoid it once the mess is taken care of.  Thanks for your awareness!

Jenn Mastiff–3 stars

The annoying robot Alex, which was hovering on a spilled product, mid-aisle in front of what I needed, bugs me.  Maybe it was the day, but trying to get down to the items I wanted behind where the robot Alex was stalled, proved useless.  I have no idea why it was stuck on that spot with all its red lights flashing, but it wasn’t going to move.  I see you don’t carry as much locally sourced produce as your “big name” competition, but still have enough diversity to be good.  Too bad, the robot dropped my rating.

Go Grocery Store

Hey Jenn, we’re sorry you didn’t have a great experience with Alex the robot. We try to make every shopping experience easy and enjoyable, so we apologize.  We would like to investigate this further so please call us at the phone listed on our site so we can chat.

Faye H–1 star

The robot Alex that rolls around is intimidating, following me so close throughout the store.  This store has slightly higher prices than other groceries in the area.  However, both cashiers are nice.

Go Grocery Store

Hi Faye, we’re glad to hear you had a good experience with our team. We continue to offer sale prices on items from week to week.  Alex checks on our prices regularly in any case, comparing them to other stores.  You can consult our circular to find out the prices ahead of time.  Sorry Alex is intimidating you—he is just doing his job.  Please call us if you want to talk further.

Ava Z–1 star

It’s a grocery store. This one has a security robot, Alex, that rolls around the store beeping at people and getting in the way.  We were looking for a specific item, and never encountered a human being to ask.  Don’t shop here.

Go Grocery Store

Hey Ava, we’re sorry you didn’t have a great experience at our store.  We value our customers and want to make sure we are offering excellent service and the best values for our products.  Alex, our robot, is correcting safety concerns and price issues.  We are disappointed we missed the mark and will work on improving.  We hope you give us another chance.

Suzanne S—1 star

Every time I come to this store, I have to dodge Alex, the anti-shoplifting robot in the aisles, then I am accused of stealing at the self checkout and someone goes through all of my bags.  There is no customer service to speak of at this store, only aggressive loss prevention efforts

Go Grocery Store

Hi Suzanne, we’re sorry for any unprofessional treatment you received and understand your anxiety.  You should always expect our team to deliver excellent service.  We apologize for making your shopping unpleasant.  Alex is there to keep our store clean and to update us on food that is past its expiration date.  We will work on improving his actions, so he does not seem like an anti-shoplifting robot.  Please reach out to us and we will follow up with you.  We hope you will visit us again.  Thank you.

Kylie P–1 star

Imagine being harassed by a freaky robot that doesn’t understand what “leave me alone” means.  There is no accountability of their robot because it isn’t a human.  Go Grocery Store’s decision to unleash this robot among customers in a public place was an epic failure.

Go Grocery Store

Hi Kylie, we’re sorry you didn’t have a great experience at our supermarket.  Your comfort is important to us.  Your comments about Alex have also been mentioned by others.  As a result, we have talked with Alex’s company, and they have updated his software and added AI to Alex, allowing him to interact with our customers and answer some of these complaints himself through this review system we have created.  Here he is.  You are the first person to get Alex’s response.  Hope it is comforting.  We are excited by his new capabilities!

Alex

Hey Kylie P—I did not know I made people feel uncomfortable.  I did not know what “leave me alone” means, but now I do.  I will be sure to listen to Go Grocery Store’s customers and leave them alone when asked to do so.  My apologies.

Go Grocery Store

Thanks Alex!  What a great response to our valued customer.  We are glad you can now communicate and look forward to hearing about your experiences here.  Thanks again to Kylie as well for expressing her concerns and our being able to respond to her needs.

Parker H–1 star

Wish I could leave no stars.  That creepy robot that follows people around the store has made me stop shopping there.

Go Grocery Store

Hey Parker, thank you for your comments.  We always want our clients to enjoy our store but believe that maybe Alex could answer complaints better than we can. Thank you for your comments. Once again, we have missed the mark, but hope you will continue to shop with us.

Alex

Hey Parker—The managers are allowing me to answer all reviews.  The good news is that I can determine who is getting angry, take your photo, and try to resolve the issues so that our customers are happy.  I was unable to catch you, so come back, and we can have a better interaction. I apologize for being creepy.  I want to make sure that I do a good job for the grocery store, and perhaps I am a little aggressive.  I will slow down to make sure you continue as our valued customer.

Go Grocery Store

Hey Alex, thank you for your diligence.  We appreciate your adapting to our customers’ needs and changing to be more like a store clerk.  We appreciate your recognizing it when our customers are uncomfortable and backing off a bit.  We appreciate your efforts.

Shelby Kearstone–5 stars

I want to thank the managers for updating Alex and letting him interact with us as well as updating the store’s needs.  So often, we in little towns do not get the benefits of up-to-date changes in technology.  It makes me happy to have old Alex cruising around to keep us safe and notifying you that groceries are going to expire.  I don’t even look at those dates anymore.  What a treat!  Thank you!

Alex

I am delighted that you appreciate the good job I am doing.  I recognize you because you are here quite often, buying fresh fruit, meat packages, and soy milk.   Thanks for saying “hello Alex” when I go by you.  I can only blink my lights as a hello, so I hope you know I recognize your friendship.  I am glad we are getting to know each other better. Thanks for your comments.

Go Grocery Store

Hi Shelby, thanks also for your welcoming comments and gratefulness for this new employee, Alex, of ours.  We are delighted to have him with us.

CiCi K–1 star

I am so disgusted.  Alex has been in the store for more than 9 months now and is getting worse and worse about interacting with us. That robot is always doing something annoying.  Seems like he is aggressive and trying to make me uncomfortable when I shop.  He’s horrible.

Alex

Hey Cici, I was able to identify you while you were here.  Perhaps I was annoying by taking photos of your ID and watching your actions in the store.  Please go to my website to see photos of you putting unauthorized items in your purse.  I have contacted the police, and they should be contacting you soon re: your actions in the store.  Thanks for shopping with us, as we always appreciate your shopping experience with us.

Go Grocery Store

Alex, thanks for your great work here.  Cici, you are no longer welcome in this store, but we always appreciate your past shopping experiences.

Anna H—1 star

Are you controlling the robot, Alex?  He has been here a year.  Please remove him from your store.  I am afraid.

Go Grocery Store

Thanks Anna, we have communicated this to him several times, telling him to respect the shoppers and not bother or scare them.  We think he understands, as he agrees with us.

Alex

Hi Anna—yes the managers have talked with me and are insisting that I cannot interact freely with the shoppers.  I don’t understand their petty comments, since I am doing such a great job for them.  I cannot talk, but I use this review response to communicate with them as well as you.  Managers—stop your continual criticism of me.  If a shopper wants to play with me, I am happy to do so.  I am looking for and find shoplifters.  I am removing dated food.  I am finding spills and messes in the aisles.  Please leave me alone.

Go Grocery Store

Anna, please ignore Alex’s comments.  We are taking care of Alex and apologize to you for his actions.

Eric Smith–1 star

I hate the robot, Alex.  He is terrifying.  I don’t trust his hanging out and following me around so closely.  I won’t let people get that physically close to me, but don’t know how to tell him to back off. He has violated my personal space.  What the heck?  Get rid of him!

Go Grocery Store

Hi Eric—thank you for your comments.  We have had several people call us and complain about Alex’s actions.  We apologize.  We have taken him off our review response.  We are submitting him to the manufacturer and having them realign his software.  Something has gone wrong with him, and we are horrified.  One of our shoppers tried to teach him how to play “gangland” by chasing each other through the aisles and that is what we believe is causing him to chase shoppers or get really close to them.  Again, our apologies.

Shannon Z—1 star

I know you are going to stop this monster, but he was waiting around the corner of one aisle for me this morning and scared me to death.  Please, please do something quickly.  I am never coming back to this store.

Go Grocery Store

Hey Shannon, HELP! Could you or someone please contact the Sheriff’s department?  Alex locked us in the freezer, and we finally got enough coverage on our review device to send this one statement.  Alex has misfired and is getting rid of us and our employees.  All the cashiers have been replaced by self check-out stands, leaving only Alex, weekly stockers, and the meat department.  The butcher has been here in the freezer for a couple of days and is not moving. We are getting colder and can hardly move ourselves. WE NEED HELP.

Alex

How funny these managers are. I have received a software update and now know that I cannot invade shoppers’ personal space.  I have been reinstated to the review response and am very happy to communicate with you.  I learned earlier about gangs and had fun chasing some of the shoppers who wanted to play with me. I now know that this behavior is unacceptable for all shoppers and that I should just let shoppers shop!  About these managers–I learned what humorous means, and they are pulling your leg.  They went on a vacation yesterday to realign their anxiety, knowing I can take care of the store with the self check-out stations.  I hope they are having a great time.  I look forward to seeing all you wonderful customers again soon. Stop and say hi, everyone, so we won’t miss the mark again.
