Gav Skerry

I am a 46 year old struggling writer who has been struggling for a great many years.  After 20 years working in local radio, I moved into a new career in healthcare most recently the Ambulance Service.  But in my free time, I enjoy escaping into fictional worlds and enjoy creating those worlds myself.

Changing of the Guard

As Autumn peeks round
Summer hangs on tight
September sun
Suntan lotion and Halloween masks
Jostle for attention

Clear away the shorts
But leave a few
Bring out the scarves
Not too many
Take an umbrella, the light one

Hot sun grins
I’m still here
Can’t get rid of me
My time’s not yet over
And getting longer every year

Not really had a summer
A familiar refrain
As the sweat wiped away
We always complain
As the fainting goes on

Lady Earth takes her time
Determines the season
When to change
When to linger
She’s in charge

Never mind your dates
Your calendar overlord
It happens when it wants
Just sit back
Enjoy the view

Winter’s bite
Springing bounce
Summer sweat
And Autumn’s hug

Energy Pain

Shivering inside
No funds to heat the place
Dying for profit
