GUNSLINGER
There’s a twisted sneer
on his thin lips
and his hat is cocked
at a rakish angle.
He wears a two-gun rig
low on his narrow hips,
his hands poised and ready
over the polished pearly grips.
His pants are tucked
into his boots,
and his stance is wide and solid.
He fears nothing
except the wooden spoon
in his mother’s hand.
