Motto
In the shadowed depths
of this heart and mind,
a song still rises, despite despair,
from this golden canary of mine.
Midnight Verse XLII
The heart unloved:
a cold, empty night
longing for its moon.
Midnight Verse XLIII
FOR JASON MATTHEWS
The tides of time
will sweep the truest of friends
to separate shores,
but blood will forever reunite
in the heart.
Treasure
Please, plunder my wallet,
take the watch, the phone,
even the fillings from my teeth,
but for the love of all that’s sacred,
leave me my books and solitude.
