The Deal

Hearts are hollow
devoid of love, the
sky no longer cries,
windows are sad and
streaked, with all of
yesterday's pain, the
voices echo in your
mind, enough for
the ransom living in
your heart, life lived
in the bubble of
suburban utopia,
it's a high stake
game, the dealer is
not so kind to some.

Desert Bloom

Your earth is rare
shoe leather gaze
upon the tired sky,
cracked earth in
mock surrender,
you should be the
one rejoicing, you
should be the one
in bloom, but your
weary veins refuse
to pump life's blood,
you're just too tired
and worn to continue.

Cold Water Flat

The flat was cold as
an ice house in the
dreaded winter time,
life stage set, a tenant,
an old man, given up
on any sort of god or
dream, or pursuit of
happiness, he played
the oboe for company,
sometimes he painted,
most often he softly
typed his life away on
the fading keys of his
relic typewriter, like a
tapestry of golden rays
through his cracked
window, failing eyes saw
through into the distance
of a poetic masterpiece,
that lay always out of his
reach.
