S.J. Ladds is a writer of everything and in between. She slips between genres as they call to her, using threads of queerness, creativity and chronic illness to stitch her stories into the patchwork quilt that she calls an imagination. Her work has been published in multiple journals such as Short Vine, Queer By Gum and AC|DC lit as well as being longlisted for the Cymera 2025 prize for speculative fiction. She has wanted to be a writer since she found out the books she stayed home from school to read were written by real life people. (And later made up for her nursery escape artistry by graduating with a Creative Writing Bachelors and studying for a Genre Fiction Masters).
