Highway Of Tears
There is a paved road in the Canadian Northwest that has asphalt soaked in the blood of women. the stains are decades old, holding the stories of the vanished. Indigenous ladies hitchhiking to escape from the perils of violence and poverty and to go to a faraway place only to be lost on the Highway of Tears. Picked up by a complete stranger with the devil perched on their shoulder. the ladies did not know or imagine that they were hitchhiking into Hell, escorted by the souls of the damned who drove off without a thought of the soon to be decaying carcass they left behind to be absorbed into the soil. The so-called justice system ignored the cries of the families for them to search for their mothers, sisters and daughters until the bodies and the missing piled up into a mass burial ditch. Ignored and beaten down by all. Precious ladies vanishing into the night against the outcry of communities that were held powerless. Beautiful ladies whose bodies lay in the Highway of Tears.
