Moonlit Writings

I’ve been blessed with a celestial boon
In moonlight and darkness, I bloom
For my soul is not the sun’s, but the moon’s

I dance with the moon and sleep by the sun

For the darkness is my closet friend
 Although this wasn’t always so
Now the stygian night is mine to bend

 Once suffering from nyctophobia severe
Insomnia being my mind’s way to cope
The monsters were all so frightening real
As I tightly clung to reality’s idealistic rope

I dance with the moon and sleep by the sun

So frightened of the dark as a small child
Though now it’s my best friend and muse
Now seeing the beauty in darkness, beguiled
The alluring darkness I now so readily use

I long for the moon’s light
My insomnia now my muse and inspiration
While others may sleep, I’m inspired to write

I dance with the moon and sleep by the sun

For my soul is not the sun’s, but the moon’s
In moonlight and darkness, I bloom
I have been blessed with a celestial boon
