PARTURITION!

And then amidst the clamor of prayers
And chittering of the birds
God bled!
And the pole star like the midwife
Brought out the child,
Night was born!

THE LINGERING FRAGRANCE!

That duffle bag in the attic
Gasping under the weight of dust
Still holds your smell!
The other day I had opened it
Your body mist had spilled in it
The one you had bought,
On our last trip to Italy.
I always envied your taste!
My mind all muddled now.
Did you buy that for he liked it?
Yet you had rested your head
On my chest. I was lost in the fragrance!
Believe me, I didn’t realize my love had
Metamorphosed!
I wish I had trodden carefully
The bug could have been alive!
Alas, me and my Kafkaesque life!

  1. Unique metaphorical usage of
God to a woman and polestar to a midwife is something that’s really quite bold. It kindled my imagination and am trying to visualise it 🤣

Being an ardent fan of Kafka, the poetry made me read Metamorphosis again.
